The Alpentour Trophy is on next week 9th - 12th June. Our Endurance Ed, Scott, is heading out. 4 stages, 'only' 195km, but 8800m of climbing, with a 14km uphill TT for stage 4. That's straight up a mountain, 1100m of climbing! It is all based out of the picturesque, Austrian town of Schladming, not far from the main town of Salzburg. Not a long race in distance, but the amount of climbing will make it a toughie! Take a look:

5 UK riders are heading out: Lloyd Beetles of Clee Cycles, Karla Boddy of the Drops Cycling Team, James Hinsby of Squirt Lube and Chris Taylor. Ride up through mountain forest trails, the flora gradually changing with height gain out up onto the treeless landscape of high mountain passes. Then do the reverse back down!

With the height gain, there can still be snow on some of the higher passes even at this time of the year! The mountains here are a beautiful place to be. At least by climbing so much at a steady pace, there will be time to take in the stunning views. Something to distract from the complaining legs too!
