The international race season kicks off today with the 1st edition of the 4 day UCI points Costa Blanca stage race. The well established Club La Santa 4 day stage race on Lanzarote starts on Saturday, part of their official Cape Epic training week. Hopefully the sun will be shining and the wind will be kind!

There is the option of racing any combination of stages or all of them and simply paying for the ones you decide to race. At 75€ for all 4 stages, it is a very well priced way to kick start the racing legs in sunnier climes. As with all races in Spain, a race licence is required or just pay daily for a licence. Younger riders have the option of taking part too, with race categories for cadets and juniors as well as a category for leisure riders.
Keep an eye out for UK riders, there's 25 of them heading out. Amongst them; Anthony White racing in the highly contested M40 category, local Welsh rider Carwyn Davies, Chris Noble reporting for UKXCNews.com and Jon Fearne of E3Coach.com. Representing in the ladies are Natasha Barry, Iwona Szmyd and Carla Haines.

With plenty to do post race, relax by the sea, other activity options from Club La Santa or go ride some more on the numerous trails, it is well worth staying a few extra days after the racing and bringing the family or the non riding team/moral support.
