With just a few days to go organisers Run & Ride have been busy putting the final plans in place and double checking to make sure everything is ready for the Cannock Chase Summer Classic on Sunday 22nd May. After a few scouting laps around the course last night, they report that the trails are riding fast and fun. The course will be the same as used for the Winter Classic back in February. Not something that they would normally do but riders loved the course so why change a good thing! The course will be compact including tight twisty singletrack, fast fun downhills and minimal climbing. They think the flow of the course is just right, especially now some of the new trails have bedded down. Track length is approx. 3 miles which should see the fastest riders lapping in 15 minutes and mid-packers around the 20 minute mark.

The event is aimed at all riders and especially those new to mountain biking so no need to worry about the course being too technical, whilst the course is challenging it avoids any dangerous jumps or drops. It's about having fun and being safe!

As always, the event provides racing for all ages and all the family. Kids as young as 3 will be having a blast in the U8 category while new riders can get a taste of racing in the morning’s beginner event. The Fun and Enthusiast races will be stacked with riders looking to take on riding buddies and all other competitors alike. The afternoon sees top racers in the Pro / Expert categories go head to head and the hard guys and girls riding in the single speed / fat bike races.

Trophies
Online entry is still open and entry on the day will be available with a £5 surcharge. The event will also be the final round of the West Midlands MTB Series and the series decider adding an extra bit of excitement to the racing. With Round 3 of the series cancelled, many categories are either tied or very tight so riders will be pushing that little bit harder to secure points for the overall competition. Final series presentations will take place in July.
Spectators are very welcome to support, cheer and make as much noise as possible to encourage the riders and help create a fun, party atmosphere! There will be a number of caterers providing a wide range of food options and real coffee.
